Blume and Grow Forever

Whether you love them or hate them, few writers consistently stir up controversy like Judy Blume and Lena Dunham, at least without a heaping helping of political intrigue or blasphemy. No, these ladies tend to stick to slices of life and coming of age stories, but somehow their relatively mundane topics don’t spare them any ire.

The two recently put their generational and demographic differences aside to talk about such scandal-fodder as puberty, careers, and writing. They also came up with a list of their reading recommendations. So, if you ever wanted to know what books inspired Blume or Dunham, or what recent reads have them burning the midnight oil, wonder no more. You may recognize more than a few banned books (Lolita, Forever, The Hunger Games, etc) on their to-read list, although it seems they were not fans of banned best-sellers Twilight or 50 Shades of Grey.
